There is a young rufus and a goal on prehistoric earth. There is old rufus in the past and old goal in that time dimension (no idea how it is called in english). It is like he has this supper power to break everything and he can't shut it off even if he wants to. Rufus' character is written as a walking natural disaster to everyone, and turns his ability upon himself when he knows he is the most vulnerable and breaks that he cares about. Why should be be different toward something he really wants? Nothing stopped Rufus from lying to any other character to get something he wanted. Just one lie to Goal about Cletus and she is his forever.) The reason this is universally seen as a bad ending isn't because no one likes tragedies, it's because it's a legitimately bad ending. Where the fuck is my decent happy end with booze and so forth? He never gives up and he never lets go.Īn ending that tells you "ha, you lose, it's hopeless, give up on trying to improve things" is the definition of a "fuck you" in this game. Rufus, in spite of the constant hopelessness around him, always finds a way to push through, to overcome.
